The Soul of Our Political Parties
After reading The Soul of Battle: From Ancient Times to the Present Day, How Three Great Liberators Vanquished Tyranny by Victor Davis Hanson, I began to consider the soul of our modern political parties. To do this, we should ignore the words and deeds of both the Democrat and Republican Parties before the 21st century and concentrate on the 21st-century words and deeds of the parties. If we do this, we can see some distinct differences between the parties' modern souls. The modern soul of the Democrat party was formulated and solidified in the first decade of the 21st century. In contrast, the soul of the Republican party was formulated in the second decade of the 21st century and is now being solidified in the third decade of the 21st century.
The modern soul of the Democrat Party was formulated on the extreme ideologies and ideas of "Progressives/Leftists" in response to the election of President Bush in 2000, which were solidified in the election of President Obama in 2008, then further cemented in the election of President Biden in 2020.
The modern soul of the Republican Party began to formulate with the rise of the Tea Party Movement in 2009. The Tea Party movement was an American conservative political movement within the Republican Party that coalesced against President Barack Obama's agenda and held a series of public protests against President Obama and moderate Republican Party leaders. This soul began to be solidified with the election of President Trump in 2016, and is continuing to this day.
Many Democrats and Republicans are not infused with this soul, but it influences their voting. And other Democrats and Republicans voted either Democrat or Republican based on their family history and upbringing. But the soul of the Democrat and Republican Parties is what influences the Democrat and Republican politics and policy agendas.
These two souls are diametrically opposed to each other, and we can expect a big clash between these two souls in the 2022 and 2024 elections. The question is, what are the souls of these two parties? The answer is in the nature of our governance and government authority in American society. These are the issues that I have written in the "Terminology" webpage "Greater Good versus the Common Good", "Equity and Equality", and my Articles on "A Republican Constitution or a Democratic Constitution", and "To Be Rulers or to Be Leaders". The soul of the Democrat Party is committed to; the Greater Good, Equity, a Democratic Constitution, and rulership, while the soul of the Republican Party is committed to; the Common Good, Equality, a Republican Constitution, and leadership.
Progressives, Leftists, and Democrat Party Leaders also exhibit an attitude that they are more intelligent, better educated, and morally superior; they are, of course, always correct. Therefore, they believe that their policies are what is best for all Americans. They make emotional appeals to the electorate to garner votes, and often these emotional appeals are based upon fears. Also, they often resort to pejoratives when describing their opponents. They also consider themselves internationalists and a citizen of the world, and they will often bias their actions in favor of international consensus rather than what is best for America. While many profess a belief in God, they are committed to secularism in government, and many of them are atheists or agnostics. They, therefore, do not base their policies and agendas on religion or morality but on an internal sense of righteousness.
Conservatives and Republicans believe that they are correct but make allowances that they could be wrong and, consequently, they often have an attitude of modesty. They often make intellectual appeals to the electorate to garner votes and, therefore, have a constricted set of sloganeering, platitudes, and clichés they can utilize against their opponents. They also consider themselves Americans first and will make decisions on the international stage about what is best for America. Many Conservatives and Republicans believe in God and morality, which they practice in their personal, public, and political life. They, therefore, often base their policies and agendas on religious and moral grounds.
Many Progressives, Leftists, and Democrat Party Leaders believe that “we must choose truth over facts”, as Joe Biden stated in a campaign speech, while Conservatives believe that facts will lead you to the truth. This belief points out the dichotomy between the approaches to policy disputes between Democrats and Republicans and reveals one aspect of the nature of their different souls. The Democrats and Progressives/Leftists believe in Noble Lies, Big Lies, and Repeated Lies to advance their truths and their agenda as I have Chirp on, "11/24/21 Noble Lies, Big Lies, and Repeated Lies". In contrast, Conservatives and Republicans are committed to “Rationality” and "Reasoning" buttressed by facts and truths to advance their agenda.
Consequently, Progressives, Leftists, and Democrat Party Leaders believe in "The Biggest Falsehoods in America" and "Socialism is Acceptable". They also believe that they have the duty and responsibility to impose their beliefs upon America. An imposition in which they utilize the tactics of Political Correctness, Activists and Activism, Adjective Justice, Virtue Signaling, Cancel Culture, Wokeness, Identity Politics, "Herd Mentality", Equity and Equality, the Greater Good versus the Common Good, and "Social Engineering" to achieve their goals. An imposition in which they have mustered the cooperation of the Mainstream Media, Mainstream Cultural Media, Modern Big Business, Modern Education, and Social Media, all of which I have written in my various Chirps and Articles as well as in my Terminology" webpage.
An imposition that can only be achieved by despotism in America, as I have written in my Article, "Despotism in America". The hubris of Progressives and Leftists and Democrat Party Leaders that believes that they can rule a free people is astounding, as only subservient or subjugated people can be subordinate to the dictates of governmental authority.
As such, they do not believe in "Natural, Human, and Civil Rights", and hence the consequences of Progressives and Leftists and Democrat Party Leaders soul is one that puts into practice the darker sides of our nature, rather than as President Abraham Lincoln has stated, “… by the better angels of our nature.”
